When one looks at various outcomes in middle years and high school physical education/wellness it becomes evident that engagement is embedded. Indicators within Saskatchewan’s physical education curriculum reference the idea of “willingly engaging” in a variety of movement activities at a moderate to vigorous level of effort. From a personal and social responsibility perspective, engagement is a vital piece as well. As physical educators, we need to assess the engagement levels formatively. This Engagement Rubric has been used by high school teachers to track performance and provide feedback to students.
